ZESCO United will tomorrow host relegation threatened Napsa Stars at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Ndola in what is expected to be an explosive encounter for the Zambian football followers.
A win for ZESCO United will guarantee the league leaders the 2020/2021 league title which they lost to Nkana a season ago.
Defeat for Napsa will deepen their woes in the race to survive relegation in a season that has turned out to be a total nightmare on and off the pitch for Zambia’s 2020/2021 envoys in the CAF Confederation Cup.
ZESCO United coach Numba Mumamba expects nothing but victory in what is expected to be an epic league encounter for both teams.
It has been a week of intense preparations for the eight times league champions which included a 2-all draw practice match against Kitwe based league giants Power Dynamos.
This week, Mumamba and Kenyan international striker Jesse Were described Sunday’s encounter as a final showdown of the season despite remaining with four games to close the campaign.
ZESCO United will be without Ian Otieno, Chitiya Mususu, Tafadzwa Rusike and Mukuka Chanda due to injuries.
Mumamba will be relying Toaster Nsabata to thwart Napsa Stars efforts on target.
The ZESCO United gaffer will also be expecting Were, Kalengo, Makwata and Enock Sakala to be at their sharpest in front of goal.
Were who recently engraved his name in the annals of the club’s history by scoring a century goals will be expected increase his goal tally when ZESCO United face the pensioners.
Mumamba will also be looking for total concentration in the middle of the park with Kamusoko, Ching’andu, Samuel Sikaonga, and Donashano Malama salivating for a first start.
At the back, Adrian Chama, Solomon Sakala, Clement Mwape, Mwila Phiri, Simone Silwimba, Fackson Kapumbu, John Chishimba, and Samson Mkandawire will all be expected to Nsabata’s shield.
The hosts will also be wary of the threat posed by Napsa Stars whose future of playing in the country’s elite league continues to look fragile.
ZESCO United only need two points from their last four games to canter way with the 2020/2021 Super League season.
