Numba Mumamba has showered praise on ZESCO United players for successfully delivering a ninth league title in his first tenure as club head coach.
Yesterday ZESCO United beat Napsa Stars 2-0 in the FAZ/MTN Super league week 19 rescheduled fixture to be crowned 2020/2021 Zambian league champions with three games to spare.
Mumamba who joined the club last September, taking over from George Lwandamina has described this seasons league triumph as a big step in the right direction.
“I am very excited lifting the championship with three games to spare. I came here for a job and I am happy we have achieved our objectives. I give credit to my players because this has been the most competitive league season.
This wasn’t easy for any team but we rose to the occasion and we have been crowned champions. It is a good welcome for us as the new technical bench. We are very grateful to the players. We will work hard to achieve more,” he said.
The ZESCO United coach has further congratulated the club’s young players for their contribution to the club’s league success.
“I came in to try and strengthen the team by bring in young players so that they could blend together with the more experienced players for us to get results. I think the young ones have made a bigger difference. They have injected in a lot of energy in the team with the senior players supplementing.
We give credit to the young players for showcasing their talent and for having great belief in themselves because it is never easy for young ones to come and start playing football at ZESCO United,” Mumamba added.
Mumamba has also described his working relationship with the rest of the ZESCO United technical bench as excellent.
“I must say our working relationship has been excellent. The guys who were here before us really helped us to settle and make sure that we work together and collected results as a team. This is what has made our work easy. This is a team effort which everyone who has been involved in should be extremely happy about.”
