ZESCO United football club is delighted to announce the signing of defensive midfielder, Dickson Chapa from Napsa Stars football club.
Chapa signs a 1-year loan move to the league champions subject to completing medicals.
The 24-year-old enterprising midfielder becomes ZESCO United’s second signing following the capture of former Kitwe United winger Edward Lungu.
Chapa was instrumental in Napsa Stars surprising and impressive run in the 2020/21 CAF Confederation Cup which saw the pensioners qualify for the competition for the first time and secured a place in the Group stage of the elite continental tournament.
ZESCO United expects the Napsa Stars captain to play a leading role in the club’s league title defense and CAF champions league.
“ZESCO United is pleased to secure the signature of Dickson Chapa. We have brought a good defensive midfielder with both domestic and continental experience.
Chapa played a profound role in Napsa Stars qualification for CAF interclub football and led his team to the Group stage of the competition for the very first time in their history,” ZESCO United Football Club Technical Chairman, Peter Mutale said.
Meanwhile Chapa has expressed happiness to join the Ndola based Zambian Super League giants.
““I was very excited when I heard that ZESCO United were interested in signing me. I was very happy because it shows that my efforts in the game are being appreciated especially when a team like ZESCO United come calling.
This is a very organized club with a rich history. I feel that they have seen something in me which they want to use to add value to the team. I also want to ensure that I contribute to the clubs growth by winning titles,” Chapa said.
The Napsa Stars captain is expected to bring competition and give coach Numba Mumamba defensive options in the middle of the park.
