Nine times Zambian Super League champions, ZESCO United will face Royal Leopards of Eswatin in the 2021/22 CAF champions league preliminary rounds.
ZESCO United made a bouncy retain in the continents most prized competition after cantering away with the 2020/21 Zambian Super League title with a 16-point margin.
The Zambian Super League champions discovered their fate in the champions league following the CAF interclub draws conducted in Cairo, Egypt today.
First CAF preliminary games will be played between the 10-12 September with Royal Leopards hosting the Zambian champions in Eswatin.
The country’s envoy in the CAF champions league, ZESCO United will in return host Royal Leopards at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium between the 17-19 September 2021.
ZESCO United head coach Numba Mumamba will be salivating to guide the Ndola based league giants into an exciting CAF champions League campaign.
Mumamba knows the club’s history in CAF which saw ZESCO United reach the CAF champions league semi-final in 2016 a feat that the champions have grappled to replicate in recent times.
The gaffer recently set group stage qualification as primary target before heading into the competition.
“Firstly, we have to set our sights on getting to the Group stage of the CAF Champions League. That’s our primary objective thereafter it will be easy for us now to set our eyes on getting further into the competition,” he said.
