MUMAMBA RULES OUT OBURU, KALENGO FOR ABSA CLASH

ZESCO United striker Vincent Oburu has been ruled out of this Saturdays Absa Cup quarter final clash against Green Eagles due to an injury sustained during last weekend’s league game against Konkola Blades.

Oburu has added extra oomph to the league defending champions frontline since signing for ZESCO United.

Club Head Coach Numba Mumamba has also ruled out veteran striker Winston Kalengo and Spencer Sautu.

“I can confirm that we will be missing the services of Oburu and Kalengo due to injuries sustained last weekend. We will also be without Spencer Sautu due to contractual obligations as you know Sautu is a Green Eagles player,” Mumamba said.

Meanwhile Mumamba has announced the return of Green Buffaloes defender, Adrian Chama and club attacking winger Edward Lungu.

“We are happy to have the services of Lungu and Chama who have been out for a while. I can also confirm the availability of Dickson Chapa.

“These three players will provide us with some selection options especially that we will be missing some key personnel.”

Mumamba expects an entertaining match when ZESCO United meet Green Eagles on Saturday.

“We expect an interesting match especially that we are meeting again in the league. Our focus for now is ensuring that we get to the semifinal by getting a positive result on Saturday.”

Mumamba conducted yesterday’s afternoon session without 11 of his key players who were involved in the National team organized friendly, played at Nkana stadium.

“We are missing some key players today (Wednesday) owing to the game that has been organized by the National team. It has somewhat disturbed our program though I have deliberately assigned the assistant coach to monitor the players in Kitwe.

“We are not too worried because these are professional players who know each other very well. They all know our objective on Saturday.”

Mumamba has further urged ZESCO United players to ensure that the team qualifies to the semifinals of the competition.

“My appeal to those who will replace those that are injured is to take advantage of this situation and prove themselves. This is a good platform for any player to prove himself. Otherwise, we are very positive as a team of getting a positive result on Saturday.”
