Zambian Super League giants, ZESCO United have shifted their preseason preparations from Ndola to Mongu ahead of the 2022/23 football season.
The team which left its Ndola base in the early hours of today is expected to be in Western Zambia late evening for a 10-day camp.
ZESCO United Head Coach Numba Mumamba will be delighted with the additions thus far made to his squad ahead a very busy football season.
South African born Zambian international goalkeeper, Cyril Chibwe has joined the Ndola based League giants on a 2-year contract.
Former Lusaka Dynamos attacking midfielder, Chipyoka Songa has also made a permanent switch from Shamuel Lusaka Academy to ZESCO United, signing a 4-year contract.
Ugandan international attacking midfielder Kezironi Kizito has shifted places between two town rivals with the player opting to leave Buildcon to join ZESCO United.
The raid on Buildcon has not ended with Kizito but also extended to club defender, Rodrick Kembo who has joined the former league champions on a 2-year deal.
Mumamba’s squad travels to Mongu without Spencer Sautu, Cyril Chibwe, Kelvin Kampamba, Shemmy Mayembe, and Enock Sakala with the five expected to join the Zambia National Team camp ahead of the 2022 COSAFA edition.
Others yet to join the squad is club shot stopper Ian Otieno and Kenyan international striker Vincent Oburu with the duo expected to be in the country this week.
Mumamba described Mongu as the perfect haven for total football and concentration.
“It is a good environment because everyone has to be fully committed and concentrated. We don’t want excuses or disturbances to the team especially that we will have an intensive training schedule in order to prepare our players both physically and mentally.”
