A stunning first half goal from ZESCO United newly signed attacking midfielder Songa Chipyoka and a second half Adrian Chama goal was all the Ndola based league giants needed to beat Zanaco.
ZESCO United yesterday beat Zanaco 2-0 in the ongoing Four-Club preseason tournament while Red Arrows continued their winning run with a 1-0 victory over Green Eagles.
Chipyoka opened the deadlock with a stunning free-kick that ended up at the back of the net with Zanaco goalkeeper completely beaten.
Club defender, Chama completed the victory with the easiest of goals to seal ZESCO United’s first victory of the competition.
Mumamba reacts to yesterdays win: “The team responded very well after a 1-all draw against Green Eagles. Today there was much improvement in ball handling and circulation. We did very well that is what has made the difference in today’s game.
“We utilized the chances that came our way and dominated the game. I think this is something that we are happy with. We just need to continue working on the team before the league starts.”
And the ZESCO United gaffer believes his squad is yet to get in the best rhythm.
“I believe the players are still getting to know each other especially that we have a big number of new recruits. It is slowly coming together, and I believe they will hit top gear before the start of the new season.”
The Four Club Preseason Tournament ends this afternoon with ZESCO United facing current league champions Red Arrows while Zanaco will clash against Green Eagles in today’s early kickoff game.
