Teenage sensational attacking midfielder, Songa Chipyoka is tonight expected to bolster the ZESCO United squad ahead of tomorrows CAF Confederations Cup match first leg encounter against Royal AM of South Africa.
Chipyoka who is currently with the Zambia U-20 National Team at the ongoing Cosafa Championship will jet into Durban tonight at 19:05 ahead of Sundays mouthwatering fixture.
The 18-year-old exciting winger had an explosive start to life at the ongoing Cosafa tournament contributing a goal in Zambia’s 3-0 resounding victory over Mauritius before grabbing the Man of the Match Award.
And speaking before departing Eswatin for Durban South Africa, Chipyoka believes ZESCO United has what takes to post a victory on Sunday.
“Firstly, I would like to thank the National Team for giving me this opportunity to go and represent ZESCO United as well. I believe we have a squad that is strong enough to win on Sunday.
“ZESCO United has a lot of experienced players who have played at the highest level of the African game. My role will be to help the team get a positive result. Remember this will be my first experience in CAF. I will be following the footsteps of the senior players. My prayer is that we perform well and get to the next stage of the competition.”
Meanwhile Zambia’s acting High Commissioner to South Africa Inonge Mwenya has urged ZESCO United to beat Royal AM on Sunday.
ZESCO United arrived in Durban on Wednesday and have set up base at the Umhlanga, Garden Court Hotel.
The Zambian Super League giants had their first and second unofficial training session on Thursday and Friday at the Sugar Ray Xulu stadium.
Mumamba Numba and his 20-member squad will officially have a feel of the Moses Mabhida stadium today at 16:00 ahead of tomorrow’s titanic game.
