Zambian league champions, Red Arrows will tomorrow face ZESCO United in the MTN Super league week 19 fixture scheduled for Lusaka’s, Nkoloma stadium.
ZESCO United will be eyeing to brighten their prospects of being among the league’s strong contenders by beating Red Arrows at the latter’ home turf.
The Ndola based league outfit resumed their league campaign last week with a 1-all draw against Prison Leopards while the Airmen opened 2023 with a 3-1 loss to Napsa Stars.
ZESCO United coach George Lwandamina will be praying for a spectacular liftoff having overseen the ninetimes league champions for less than a month in his third stint at the club.
Lwandamina’s return has been cheered by one man who had the privilege to work with the veteran gaffer for a season.
Kenyan international shot stopper Ian Otieno believes the new ZESCO United head coach will soon have the entire team singing one song.
“The transition has been smooth because the gaffer has coached almost 99 percent of the guys who are here, and everyone is doing their best in training. We had a good retreat in Livingston which I feel is very good for the new and old players to bond. They also got used to the philosophy.”
Otieno expressed disappointment over the team’s failure to record a home win when they came up against Prison Leopards.
“It is very disappointing that we didn’t win the first game. Personally, I was not very happy with my contribution but that’s football. We need to stay focused. It is possible to beat Red Arrows. This is a different game from the one we played against Prison Leopards.
“A win will be a big boost for us after struggling in the first phase. I believe we can pick up the morale with a victory.”
