ZESCO United first assistant coach Tenant Chilumba has expressed delight following his sides 3-0 over Green Eagles.
A first half goal from Mukuka Chanda and a second day and second half brace from Lazarus Kambole sealed ZESCO United’s victory over Green Eagles.
ZESCO United’s week 23 fixture is away to league leaders Power Dynamos who beat Napsa Stars 0-1 in Lusaka at the National Heroes stadium.
“We have worked on the players mental strength. This win is important ahead of Saturdays game. We didn’t want to be overconfident especially if you look at what happened when we faced Red Arrows. We struggled to replicate the performance again.
“Today we were tactically good and played a good game. We worked on the mental strength. The second half showed that we were on top of the game. We played compact football and our objective was to keep pushing though we are not yet there.
“Lindo did very in defense since it was his first game. Our focus was to get maximum points despite the rains. The first 45’ minutes was hard because of the rains.”
And Chilumba has further urged Kambole to maintain his performance.
“We have been working on the striking force especially finishing. It is a big bonus for Kambole and good to see him scoring these goals. He has struggled over the years but it’s good to see him score goals. It is up to him now to continue fighting, working hard and getting the goals.”
