Kenyan international shot stopper, Ian Otieno expects Saturday’s MTN Super League week 34 meeting between ZESCO United and Forest Rangers to live up to its billing.
Rangers and United will this Saturday face each other as the league draws its’ curtains with both teams aiming to finish on a high and retain “kings’ status in the beautiful City of Ndola.
This is a fixture which has over the years grown in stature finding a place among some of the country’s most celebrated local derbies.
And United goalkeeper, Otieno believes both teams will be determined to emerge victorious despite Power Dynamos securing the league title.
“We are taking this game seriously just like we expect them to do. ZESCO United players understands the importance of winning this game. Our momentum has changed despite this being more of formality because we want to make sure that we finish on a high. Everyone is motivated because this is one of the biggest games of the season,” he said.
Buoyed by last weekend’s Absa cup final triumph over MUZA FC, Rangers will be expected to be extra motivated when they meet their cross-town rivals.
“I am very sure they will want to finish on a high after emerging champions of Absa. Their fans just like ours will turn up in numbers to support both teams. However, this is a fixture that we are prepared for. We have bonded as a team and know exactly what we need to do on Saturday and next season.”
United will need to beat Rangers if they are to fend off Green Buffaloes, Napsa Stars and Green Eagles from taking third position.
Rangers will host United in the last match of the season to be staged at Dola Hill stadium, Ndola.
