MANYANG: HARD WORK WILL GET US THE TITLE

South Sudanese defender, Peter Maker Manyang believes ZESCO United has the best squad to win the 2021/22 Zambian Super League title.

Manyang who made the switch from South Sudan to the Zambian Super League five months ago expects the league defending champions to push for a 10th league trophy.

“I have watched so many games in the Zambian Premier League and now am playing against some of the teams. I believe all we need to put in is hard work and we will achieve our objective.

“In my view, we have the best squad in the league, and you could see from the last game we won, the team was missing 10 players, but we still got the three points,” added the ZESCO United defender.

Manyang is delighted to have made his debut for the nine-times Zambian Super League champions.

“I was happy to have made my debut against Nkwazi. I have been working hard in training and for that moment.

“Just before the match, coach Numba Mumamba told me that he was going to give me the opportunity to play because of what he had seen in training and that I deserved the opportunity. He told me to grab it with everything,” Manyang said.

The South Sudanese debut game went according to plan with ZESCO United beating Nkwazi 1-0 at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium.

“I was really happy with the result because we struggled a bit in the second half but remained strong as a team and got the much needed three points.

“I have a good relationship with the lads and before each game I talk to them about the need for us to keep clean sheets.”

Manyang has so far played in three games with ZESCO United recording one win, one loss and a draw.

The South Sudanese believes he made the right call to come to Zambia and play for ZESCO United.

“I chose the Zambian league over other leagues such as the Nigeria Premier League because of the competitiveness of it. Playing in Zambia also opens more doors to many opportunities. I am happy playing for the best club in Zambia and one of the best teams in Africa.”

Manyang also revealed his desire to win the 2022 Absa Cup title with ZESCO United following the team’s recent successful qualification to the only Zambian cup competition.

“I am happy with the fact that we are part of Absa cup and I am looking forward to winning the title with ZESCO United. I came here to win titles.”
