UNITED, RANGERS IN NDOLA DERBY SHOWDOWN

For a moment, try to forget about the eight-point gap between ZESCO United and Forest Rangers. Forget about where United sits before the two team’s faceoff in another explosive Ndola derby scheduled for the Levy Mwanawasa stadium this Saturday.

There is no derby in the whole of Ndola that comes close to a meeting between ZESCO United and Forest Rangers. It is a replica of the famous meeting between Kitwe giants, Nkana and Power Dynamos.

Those who follow the two sides and those who have played it understand the weight it carries and the bragging rights it comes with.

Tomorrow ZESCO United and Forest Rangers players will come face-to-face and toe-to-toe in the MTN Super League week seventeen fixture.

Saturday’s fixture will be the last for the first part of the 2022/23 league season as teams will be given almost a three week break to recharge by the Zambian FA.

While Forest Rangers will be hoping to mount more pressure on league leaders Power Dynamos, ZESCO United will be determined to rewrite their script as the reign of coach George Lwandamina kicksoff.

Whether Lwandamina sits on the bench or not, Forest Rangers players will know that the recent announcement of the veteran gaffer’s appointment as ZESCO United coach is enough to rouse the latter’s spirits.

ZESCO United supporters will be geared to see what Lwandamina’s aura will deliver for the ninetimes league champions at the third time of asking.
