UNITED TARGET CHAMBISHI AFTER GBFC SETBACK

ZESCO United missed a glorious opportunity to dethrone Green Buffaloes from third position of the league following Saturdays 2-1 away defeat at the hands of the army sponsored side in a week 30 fixture played at Edwin Mboela stadium, Lusaka.

A 4’ minute goal from Enock Sakala put United in a commanding position to leapfrog Green Buffaloes who at kickoff time occupied third position.

Wounded from Sakala’s sucker punch, the hosts regrouped in the second half managing to find an early equalizer courtesy of a 50’ minute Moonga Chilimba’s powerful header which ended up at the back of the net.

With the game almost poised for a 1-all draw, Fanwell Mapulanga shocked the visitors with a late winning goal which pushed Green Buffaloes to second position while United dropped to eighth position from sixth.

Saturday’s defeat left George Lwandamina’s side with 43’ points, 13 behind league leaders Power Dynamos and five behind second placed Green Buffaloes.

As the league enters its final climax with only four games to play, United will shift focus towards relegation threatened Chambishi when the two sides meet on Sunday at Nkana stadium, Kitwe.

United will be desperate to reignite their quest for a top four finish by beating Chambishi in Sundays pulsating fixture which will be televised on SuperSport.

The nine times league champion’s last three games include two away matches against Nchanga Rangers, Forest Rangers and a home fixture with Nkana.
