SIKOMBE DOMINATES UNITED AWARDS AS KAPUMBU WINS PLAYER OF THE YEAR  

ZESCO United defensive midfielder, Kelvin Kapumpu has won the club’s Player of the Year award following an outstanding debut season.

Kapumbu who joined United from Zanaco last year has been one of the most outstanding performers of the past campaign.

Meanwhile club attacking midfielder, Collins Sikombe has bagged the Top Scorer award having scored 14 goals for United in all competitions.

The former Lusaka Dynamos talisman has further walked away with the clubs Most Disciplined Player award.

United exciting winger, Mukuka Chanda has been voted the clubs Most Consistent Player while Enock Sakala has pocketed the Young Player of the Year award.

And speaking during the ZESCO United and Atlasmara Bank organized Player Awards Gala Dinner held this evening at Protea hotel, ZESCO United Chairman Maxwell Saya has urged the players to work hard next season.

“I wish to congratulate all the recipients of various awards tonight. It is my sincere hope that your achievements this evening motivates you to work extra hard next season.”

One of the key highlights of the event was Atlasmara banks announcement of the extension of the shirt sponsorship deal with ZESCO United to another season.

Bank acting Chief Executive Officer, Bobbline Cheembela, says Atlasmara remains committed to strengthening its longstanding relationship with the nine times Zambian Super League Champions.

“As you may be aware, Atlas Mara is currently working on a merger with Access Bank and once the merger process is complete later this year the merged bank will be rebranded as Access Bank Zambia Limited. As part of the integration process, there is agreement that in order to create a much stronger merged bank, all the good things on the Atlas Mara side and on the Access Bankside will be adopted and I can assure you that the partnership with ZESCO United FC has been deemed as one of those good things that we would love to continue with.”

Zambia Premier League Chairman, Kephas Katongo has commended ZESCO United for maintaining high standards at the club.

“ZESCO United has been consistent in honouring its top performers year-in-year-out and remain a point of reference for other clubs. FAZ is delighted to see that this has not been a one-off event but a ritual which continues to be part of the club’s tradition. Staff motivation is one of the significant ingredients of producing high performing teams.”
